Wherever possible the building has been left to speak for itself. “I would say my favourite bits are where we’ve done the least and just framed the existing features” says Brinkworth’s associate director Murray Aitken. And anyone who has known and loved the Atlantis Building should appreciate the sentiment.(On-Office Jan 09)

LBi Brinkworth’s design is an intelligent and economical response to a tough building, and one that is full of character and memories. By turning Atlantis into a private office, Londoners have been deprived of one of the East End’s best temporary events spaces. Kevin Brennan (Brinkworth Director) comments that he ‘could not have faced the world if they had wrecked one of his favourite buildings’. He needn’t worry.
